Description
3 Nov Hear the Hope Drumbeat (1)

This drama focuses on the difficulties faced by Bengali parents in the UK today. It deals with the influence of their own peer groups within British society. It explores the conflicts which can occur between the generations, and between cultures. Many try to introduce their children to Bengali traditions, religious practices and social norms. Some face resistance in doing so. The play also exposes the hypocrisy of the so-called community leaders. Those who appear to uphold and promote Bengali culture and faith, do not always act accordingly. They have ego and self-interest at heart, over and above the values they claim to espouse.

About the Company: Muktomoncho means open forum. They aim to promote and preserve Bangla (Bengali) language, culture and heritage in Bristol and Southwest England. Muktomincho is open to anyone who shares these aims. It is secular, inclusive, and non-political.
