Vehicle removal

If you believe that your vehicle has been removed from any public highway in London or from an estate in Tower Hamlets, please use the TRACE (24 hours service) to identify which vehicle pound your vehicle has been removed to.

When a vehicle has been removed, the required amount on recovery of the vehicle must be paid. On payment, you will be informed of your rights to appeal.

You will need to supply two* of the following documents that identify you as the owner or hirer of the vehicle. One of the following show ownership or lease/hire of the vehicle:

• The vehicle registration certificate (V5C). (The new keepers supplement (V5C/2) will not be accepted as proof of ownership)
• Copy of the lease or hire agreement
• As well as one of any of the following documents
  • A valid insurance certificate (not cover note) for the vehicle that names the person collecting the vehicle
  • Utility bill (less than three months old) under the registered keeper’s name
  • Driving licence or passport

*For those who keep avoiding, we need all documents to confirm ownership:

• Driving licence
• The vehicle registration certificate V5C
• Insurance document (covering a 12 month period)

You will also need to provide proof of identity. Proof of address will be required if not shown on the proof of vehicle ownership.
