Open space strategy
The strategy aims to ensure our open spaces reflect the shared vision of the council and its partners. Our vision is to improve the quality of life for everyone living and working in Tower Hamlets. Parks and open spaces are important elements of the borough's community plan themes. The themes are:
- living safely,
- living well,
- creating and sharing prosperity,
- learning achievement,
- leisure and
- excellent public services.
The strategy sets out
The strategy sets out how we will achieve and maintain the highest quality parks and open spaces. It states how we will ensure our open spaces are safe and accessible to all. The strategy focuses on sustainability. We will protect the future needs of the community and the environment, in the design and use of open spaces.
Who developed the strategy?
The strategy has been developed in consultation with:
- local people,
- residents groups,
- community groups and
- public bodies with an interest in open spaces.
Each year we make improvements to parks and open spaces, as identified in the strategy. This includes refurbishment to play areas, park furniture, planting and signage.
