Small businesses struggling to access finance options which suit their business and ethical needs can find out about the wealth of choices available to them.
Tower Hamlets Council is hosting a free bespoke business and lunch event on Thursday 27 February at the Town Hall aimed at providing Islamic finance options alongside more traditional options.
The event will be compered by Umesh Kumar, Head of Venture Support, at Allia Impact Ltd and feature a panel of experts including:
- Hassan Daher, founder and CEO of Qardus. Qardus is an FCA regulated Sharia-compliant lender to businesses across the UK. Hassan has 15 plus years experience in finance and Islamic finance obtained in the UK and the Middle East.
- David Woods works for The British Business Bank which, is the UK Governments’ economic development bank dedicated to helping small businesses survive, prosper and grow.
David works with finance organisations to provide intelligence on how SMEs are finding access to finance, helping the Bank target resources better.
- Muhammad Solaiman, is an accountant at Stan Lee Probate Limited who has extensive experience in SME accountancy across property, care homes, catering, and other industries.
- Joseph Babalola is the Head of Cashflow Lending at Funding Bay. Joseph dedicates his expertise to supporting SMEs across diverse industries.
Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said:
"There are over 18,000 businesses in Tower Hamlets, with the majority being small, independent businesses.
"We are proud to have so many local shops and businesses on our high street, and we are committed to ensuring that they continue to thrive.
"Many local businesses face challenges in accessing the right financial support to help them grow and take the next step, which is why we are offering expert advice and tailored guidance to meet their unique needs and support them to achieve even greater success."
Cllr Musthak Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Enterprise, Skills and Growth added:

The event runs from 11.30am till 2pm and will include refreshments, lunch and an opportunity to network and visit stalls.
