Please view the mayor's statement on the consultation.
The council consulted on draft guidance covering extensions to the roof and to the rear of residential properties, in the form of an addendum to the existing guidance for eight of its Conservation Areas and accompanying guidelines for mansard roofs. Those conservation areas covered included Chapel House, Driffield Road, Fairfield Road, Jesus Hospital, Medway, Tredegar Square, Victoria Park and York Square. The consultation ended on 18 January 2016.
Call for Sites information gathering exercise
The council carried out a Call for Sites information gathering exercise, which closed on Monday 3 August 2015.
The Call for Sites was an opportunity to update information on development sites and inform the council’s existing evidence base on matters including housing, gypsies and travellers, employment and infrastructure such as schools and open space. It does not allocate land or make any decisions on use allocations. The suitability of the sites for allocation would be considered after the Call for Sites, as part of the preparation of the Tower Hamlets Local Plan.
The council was particularly interested in sites that it had not considered before and welcomed suggestions that met the Call for Sites criteria. Sites did not need to be within proposer's ownership or control and could be in any part of the borough, excluding the area administered by the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document
Due to changes in government policy and a challenging economic climate, the council prepared a draft Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (AHSPD) to ensure that the council can continue to maximise affordable housing delivery and that new homes built are genuinely affordable for those in housing need.
The Affordable Housing SPD will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications and will provide greater certainty for developers, registered providers, our local community and other key stakeholders.
The draft AHSPD and supporting documents are available to view:
The draft AHSPD was approved for public consultation by Cabinet on 10 April 2013 and a statutory consultation was undertaken from 20 May 2013 to 2 July 2013.
