Welcome message

This wonderful and unique festival of theatre is back for its 21st year.

We are so proud that Tower Hamlets continues to champion this fantastic platform for homegrown talent. It is a forum for many writers and performers to come together.

It delivers a diverse programme of plays for audiences old and new, from all ages and backgrounds. It gives a voice to those who are starting out, and continues to be relevant to the British Bengali, and wider communities, in East London today.

This year, the season focuses on the theme of hope. Many of the productions tackle global issues such as conflict and climate change, as well as human greed and hypocrisy.

The festival celebrates iconic figures such as Tagore and Nazrul. It reminds us of the power and positive influences of art, literature and poetry. Messages of leading by example shine through.

There is a focus on the need for connectivity and empathy, especially with more marginalised sections of the community.  Many productions use movement, music and dance to bring colour and joy to the borough as autumn takes hold.

There is also plenty on offer from the festival’s fringe programme of events. This includes exhibitions, talks and walks, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We hope you can make the most of this varied and meaningful month-long festival.
