A Season of Bangla Drama 2024
We delighted to confirm that acclaimed Bangladeshi theatre festival, A Season of Bangla Drama will once again grace stages across the borough.
When
A Season of Bangla Drama 2024 takes place from 1 - 24 November 2024. The programme has now been finalised.
Theme of Hope
The theme for 2024 is ‘hope’, a good fit for the festival’s ‘coming of age’ in its 21st year, and in age of tumult and uncertainty.
A Season of Bangla Drama champions new writing and provides a platform for debut performances. The final selection showcases 16 plays which capture the ‘zeitgeist’ (spirit of the age), and are all relevant to an East London audience.
Key sub themes
The emergence of key sub-themes such as climate and the corruption of power are balanced by the more positive forays into human connection and a celebration of iconic cultural figures.
Young people
The youth element provides a generational balance. Using wider art forms such as music, dance and movement provide a multi-dimensional sensory experience.
Fringe programme
A Season of Bangla Drama will have a fringe programme of events including:

- talks and
- walks.
There will be something for everyone to enjoy.
