A community event to celebrate South Asian History Month

The history of Bengal is the story of multiple interwoven threads. This event celebrates the voices, culinary traditions, textiles, and music that have shaped East and West Bengal.

The theme, ‘Restitching Heritage: A Journey through Bengali Textile, Music, and Food,’ weaves together different threads of heritage.

The event brings together Bengali and other communities to celebrate the heritage and culture of Bengal.

There will discussions on themes of identity, heritage preservation, and community. The discussions will focus on sensory heritage through food, textiles, and music,

The connections between East Bengal and Britain date back to colonial times. There is evidence of Bengalis living in East London in the 18th century.

The event will look at cultural connections between communities and their impact on British culture. We will look at the impact of the historical legacy of colonialism and how it lingers on South Asian communities, as well as Britain.
