Abdi Mohamed elected as a new councillor for Bow East

Abdi Mohamed has been elected as Member of Tower Hamlets Council for the Bow East ward, following the by-election which took place on Thursday 12 September 2024.   

Cllr Mohamed of the Labour Party received a total of 1,266 votes, followed by Rupert George of the Green Party, who received a total of 722 votes.

Robin William Edwards of the Conservative Party received 239 votes, while Siobhan Linzi Proudfoot of the Liberal Democrats received 148 votes.

There were 9 spoiled ballots. The turnout for the constituency was 15.18 per cent. 

Stephen Halsey, Returning Officer and Chief Executive of Tower Hamlets Council, said: 

“First of all, I would like to say congratulations to Cllr Mohamed on his election to the council and I look forward to working with him.

 “Running elections involves an incredible amount of hard work by colleagues across the council who work closely with the Electoral Commission, the Metropolitan Police and many others and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved and worked so diligently from the early planning stages, through to polling day and the count.”
