More than 150 foster carers and staff were hosted at an annual awards ceremony, dinner and dance last week (Friday 11 October), to celebrate the invaluable contributions of foster carers to the local community.
The evening, held by Tower Hamlets Council, provided an opportunity to bring foster carers together from across the borough and thank them for providing stable and loving homes to children in need.
Foster carers also had the chance to share their experiences and engage with fellow carers.
The Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Cllr Maium Talukdar, presented long service awards to those who have made exceptional contributions over the years, along with special awards to carers who have gone above and beyond in their roles.
Cllr Maium Talukdar, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Lifelong Learning, said:
“Our foster carers are the unsung heroes of our community, providing not just a home, but hope and a future for some of our most vulnerable children. Their dedication and compassion continue to inspire me, and I am incredibly proud of the positive impact they have in our borough.
“This event is just a small token of our immense gratitude for the care and commitment they show every single day.”
Following the awards ceremony, guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner and a disco, where foster carers, council staff and other attendees celebrated the achievements of the past year.
The event reinforced the council’s commitment to supporting its foster carers and acknowledging the life-changing work they do.
