A new youth centre has launched in Bromley-by-Bow Youth Centre (Bromley South Ward). The new addition expands the number of youth centres in Tower Hamlets to 16 sites, offering young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with SEND) with more safe, supportive spaces in the borough.

Youth centres in Tower Hamlets provide free hubs to young people where they can feel empowered, make new friends, and receive wellbeing and development support from a dedicated team of youth workers.

The opening was celebrated by young people and parents from across the borough, who enjoyed the new facilities, refreshments, and activities, including board games, table tennis and pool, PS5 gaming, arts and crafts, jewellery making, henna tattoos, painting, taster boxing pad sessions and football at the local football pitch.

The youth centre was officially launched with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Cllr Maium Talukdar and the Young Mayor Fetuma Hassan.

Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said:

“I want every young person in Tower Hamlets to have access to a safe space where they can grow, feel empowered, connect with other young people and build their futures.

“I’m proud that we've launched another new youth centre in Bromley-by-Bow, as well as the two other new youth centres we opened earlier this month. This forms part of our £13.7million investment we’ve made into our youth provision to ensure greater opportunities for young people in our borough.

“I look forward to seeing the positive impact this new centre will have on the lives of young people and their families.”

Cllr Maium Talukdar, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education, Youth, and Lifelong Learning, said:

"Thank you to everyone who has joined us for the launch of the Bromley-by-Bow Community Hub. It’s wonderful to see so many young residents of Tower Hamlets enjoying the new facilities and discovering all that our youth centres have to offer.

“As the youngest borough in the country, our investment into Young Tower Hamlets is a vital part of giving our young people excellent facilities, support, and opportunities to thrive. I also want to say thank you to our youth workers for their passion and dedication to the youth service and young people in Tower Hamlets.”

Young Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Fetuma Hassan, said:

“I think it’s great that Tower Hamlets has 16 youth centres now. As a young person in the borough, I know how important it is that we have spaces designed just for us where we can feel empowered, make new friends, and gain valuable employment advice and skills.”

The new youth centres are part of Tower Hamlets Council’s £13.7 million investment in its youth provision, Young Tower Hamlets.

Young Tower Hamlets has committed to creating supportive, safe spaces where young people can socialise, discover a passion, and receive advice on their CV and professional skills. With over 100 free activities on offer, the youth centres are a great space for young people across Tower Hamlets; and the addition of Bromley-by-Bow Community Hub makes their services more accessible to the Bromley-by-Bow community.

The Bromley-by-Bow Youth Centre will be open weekly, from 3:30pm – 8pm, Tuesday through Friday.
