Following the dissolution of Parliament on Wednesday 6 November 2019 the delivery of the Parliamentary Election Writs were receipted by the Acting Returning Officer (ARO) Will Tuckley here at the Town Hall, Mulberry Place on Thursday 7 November 2019.
The Notice of Election was published on Friday 8 November 2019 which commences the General Election timetable which details all of the steps and deadlines applicable until polling day which is scheduled for Thursday 12 December 2019.
Candidates nominations can be received by the ARO from 10am Monday 11 November 2019 until 4pm Thursday 14 November 2019.
Delivery of nominations must be by hand and to the electoral services team on the 7th Floor of the Town Hall and can only be delivered between the hours of 10am and 4pm on each day up to the deadline.
It is recommended that an appointment is made to submit nominations.
Some of the important dates are:
- the deadline to register to vote is midnight Tuesday 26 November 2019
- the deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes is 5pm, Tuesday 26 November 2019
- the deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies) is 5pm, Wednesday 4 December 2019.
