What is Protect?
Protect is part of CONTEST counter-terrorism strategy and its aim is to keep the public safe by strengthening the protection against a terrorist attack.It focuses on improving security at crowded places by working closely with a wide range of partners including the local authority, police, public and private sectors.
How can Tower Hamlets help me protect against an attack?
Tower Hamlets is in a unique position of having a Protective Security Manager employed by the council. Their remit includes providing security advice and support to local businesses, faith institutions and the council.
Security for places of worship scheme
The Places of Worship Protective Security Funding Scheme provides free government funding. It focuses on places of worship vulnerable to hate crime.
Vulnerable places of worship can apply for protective security measures. These include CCTV, secure fencing, and intruder alarms.
You can apply for the installation of up to three protective security measures. The application process is open from 19 May 2022 until 14 July 2022.
How can I sign up to counter-terrorism training?
ACT Awareness eLearning is a new counter-terrorism awareness product designed for all UK based companies and organisations to help better understand and mitigate against current terrorist methodology.
Online training is free of charge and available on the act awareness section of the GOV.UK website.
What should I do in the event of an attack?
Know what steps to take to keep you safe in the rare event of a firearms or weapons attack.
