Families and children in Tower Hamlets can look forward to an exciting and unforgettable school summer holiday season
- Hundreds of free activities for families this Summer.
- More than 50,000 free meals to support families and lessen the impact of cost-of living difficulties.
Families and children in Tower Hamlets can look forward to an exciting and unforgettable school summer holiday season this year as the council’s Summer of Fun 2024 programme begins.
Offering a variety of free inter-generational family activities and events, the Summer of Fun 2024 programme includes sport, adventure, cookery, drama, dance, youth theatre, cinema, arts and crafts, and more.
Through the programme, the council is giving children and families opportunities to make the most of facilities and take part in physical activities in the borough’s parks and open spaces and Be Well leisure centres.
Those attending can explore, learn, develop and have fun at Children and Family Hubs; increase their engagement with arts, culture and creativity at the borough’s Idea Stores, as well as join activities at community centres.
Many of the activities offer a free meal, supporting families who may be experiencing hardship, especially during the long school break and when the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact families.
Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “We are investing in our families and young people through the Summer of Fun 2024. Our varied programme of events offers inclusive, free, family friendly activities providing opportunities to reconnect, play, be active, have fun and improve health and wellbeing during the school holidays.
“I encourage everyone to look at what is on offer and join in as many activities as possible.”
The council is working in partnership with organisations including youth centres, farms, adventure playgrounds, and arts organisations, to deliver the programme.
