Tower Hamlets Women's Awards return

Women's Commission 2024

The Awards and Women's Commission was launched last year to help tackle gender inequality in the borough

A Local Awards programme which recognises the achievements of women in Tower Hamlets has returned for a second successive year.

Nominations for the Tower Hamlets Women’s Awards are now open for entries in the six categories of ‘Women’s Advocate of the Year,’ ‘Extraordinary Female Carer,’ ‘Female Volunteer of the Year,’ ‘Female Business Leader,’ ‘Women's Group of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Young Female.’

The Awards were set up in 2024 along with a new Women’s Commission to help tackle gender inequality in the borough.

Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said:

“Women play a vital role in our communities and their achievements should never be minimised or overlooked, and so these awards are a great way in which we can all nominate and then honour the unsung heroines of the borough.

“We’re committed to tackling gender inequality in the borough and along with these awards and launching the women’s commission, we also continue to invest in initiatives that support women, including a brand new women’s centre which will open later this year and provide a safe space to access advice, free training and health and wellbeing activities.”

Nominations are open now until Friday 28 February. Submit your nominations here

The awards ceremony will take place in April at the Town Hall.

Details of how to book tickets to the free event will be announced in February on the webpage.
