Here and Now - Black History Month photography exhibition

Alternative Arts presents a collection of the most dynamic and diverse contemporary black photographers. They explore history and identity with a series of stunning images.
The images explore a wide range of contemporary topics inspired by:
- African and Caribbean culture in London,
- unknown fishermen in Lagos,
- memories of a mixed race childhood,
- Nigerian cuisine,
- the rich tapestry of Somali experiences,
- with interweaving narratives and social celebrations.
The online exhibition will be launched on 5 October.

- Asiko celebrates the black woman as a mother inspired by Renaissance images.
- Fatima Ali experiments with abstract image making.
- Rio Blake captures intimate portraits at the Notting Hill Carnival.
- Samantha Brown uses nature to represent the spirit of the person in the portrait.
- Raymond Daley documents expressions of African & Caribbean culture in London.
- Tzion Essel explores the dreamlike, painterly quality of romantic pictorialism.
- Taishan Henry observes the alternative rap musician, Denzel Himself.
- Tanesha Lewis explores memories of her mixed-race childhood.
- Trisha McCauley presents a selection of images about the history of the Royal Docks.
- Mohamed Mohamud spotlights the rich tapestry of Somali experiences.
- Olufemi Olaiya highlights the involvement of African soldiers in the World Wars.
- Nicholas Olawunmi focuses on ingredients common in Nigerian cuisine.
- Keleenna Onyeaka photographed fisherman, while crossing a bridge in Lagos.
- Stefan Pyne records the waveforms on the Cornish coast.
