Property and Major Programmes

Question:
Property and Major Programmes
Answer:
Property and Major Programmes division looks after the council's Corporate Landlord Properties including
  • Asset Management
  • Facilities Management
  • Capital Delivery
  • Events in community buildings.

The Asset Management team deals with leases of council-owned commercial and community properties. The council has a portfolio of more than 200 retail properties occupied by businesses. These are mainly in parades on the ground floor of residential blocks. From time to time, some of these units become available for letting.

These lettings are an opportunity for businesses to submit offers to be selected as a new occupier for one of these properties. The council employs agents to market properties to let, and they are included on the commercial lettings page of the council’s website.

Representatives from the AM team will be on hand to answer questions about

  • the make up of the council’s commercial portfolio
  • how properties are marketed to let
  • what is involved in a typical lease of a commercial property.

The team cannot deal with questions or issues about existing leases, which should be sent into the team by email.
