Clothes swap
The Tower Hamlets Recycling Engagement Team is back. They are hosting the popular Clothes and Book Swap event in June. The event partners with SunnyJar and Friends of the Earth Hackney & Tower Hamlets.
Join us to save money, reduce waste by learning repair skills. You can also enjoy your items more. How? With upcycling and mending skills. Plus, find free items. All workshops are free.
To help you extend the life of your stuff we will have:
- Drop-in bike maintenance and repairs – bring along your bike, mechanics from BIkeworks will be on hand to help
- Drop-in clothes mending workshop – bring along items that need repair and learn to fix them
- Fabric painting and upcycling workshop – remember to bring along a plain t-shirt or tote bag
- Recycling information stall – find out more on council's recycling service and how to improve your recycling habits
How it works?
- Bring up to 15 items of clothing or books in good, clean condition between 10.30 to 11.30 am and exchange for tokens
- There will be a break between dropping off your clothes and the start of the swap. Join one of our workshops or come back once swapping has started
- Between 12 to 1.30pm browse and choose items of clothing and/or books and exchange your tokens for up to 15 new-to-you pieces!
- All clothes and shoes (including babies’, children’s, and men’s items) are accepted but no underwear or swimwear please.
Please bring only clean items without marks, stains or holes. You should be willing to take back what you bring. We will check items before giving tokens.
Books must be in good condition and will be part of 15 items allowed.
Any clothes and books left at the end of the swap will be brought to the next swap event or will be collected by our charity partner Triad.
