Resident on-street parking permit

A resident on-street parking permit allows a resident to park their vehicle in the zone that they live during the controlled parking times. Please read the permit terms and conditions before you apply for a permit.

One proof of your name and address:

  • UK driving licence (including a provisional or paper licence).

  • Non-GB driving licence and council tax letter dated within the last 12 months.

  • If you have a Motability car and you are not a permitted driver your Department for Work and Pensions benefit letter dated within the last 12 months.

One proof of vehicle:

  • Car insurance certificate and policy if you are the Policy Holder.

  • Vehicle logbook (V5C) - we only require the page showing your name, address, and vehicle registration.

  • The full car lease/hire or finance agreement from a registered company.

  • Motability car insurance documents showing any address in the borough if you are a permitted driver.

  • Company vehicle - you must provide the following documents:

    • Company letter or email dated within the last 28 calendar days to confirm: you are an employee or director, your full name, address, and job title; and one of the following
    • The company’s vehicle logbook, lease agreement, third party letter confirming the lease agreement, company insurance document, or the DVLA Vehicle details showing the vehicle registration and fleet reference number.

One of the following additional proof for a free permit:

  • If you are the blue badge holder, you must supply the photograph side of your blue badge.

  • If you are the blue badge holder’s nominated driver and you live at the same address, you must supply the blue badge holder’s photograph side of their blue badge and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefit letter dated within the last 12 months.

One of the following additional proof under the Permit Transfer Scheme (overcrowding):

  • The Landlord (Council or Housing Association) must confirm in writing that you are moving to a larger property with two or more bedrooms, and more bedrooms than your old property.

  • Your old and new tenancy agreements both showing your full name, address, and number of bedrooms.

One of the following additional proof under the Permit Transfer Scheme (under-occupied)

  • The Landlord (Council or Housing Association) must confirm in writing that you are moving to a property with less bedrooms than your old property.

  • Your old and new tenancy agreements both showing your full name, address, and number of bedrooms.

 One additional proof for a decantee

  • Council or Housing Association letter to confirm that you were decanted.

How to apply for a permit?

To apply for any permit, you must first set up an account. When registering, choose ‘Resident’ as your customer type to apply for a resident permit.

After you submit your application

We aim to process your application within three working days. During this time you can park until we advise you of the outcome of your application.

After you submit your change of vehicle request

We aim to process your change of vehicle request within three working days. During this time you will have to find another way to park your new vehicle, such as visitor vouchers. You must also log in to your online account to see if your request has been processed.
