Opportunity for ice cream and mobile café concessions in parks

Tower Hamlets has many beautiful parks and open spaces used by both residents and visitors to the borough.

We have a great opportunity for local businesses to trade in our parks for the summer season in 2024.

We are seeking to license:

- ice cream vans and

- mobile café operators at fixed pitches.

We have opportunities in parks across the borough for vendors who have Public Liability Insurance and Food Hygiene Certificate.

If you are interested in applying, please email parks@towerhamlets.gov.uk

Mile End Park

Mile End Park is a 32 hectare linear park. It was created on industrial land devastated by World War II bombing. Parts of the park are separated by roads, railways and waterways.

The park follows the Regent's Canal from Victoria Park to Limehouse Basin.  It is separated from the southern edge of Victoria Park by the Hertford Union Canal.

A plan existed from the end of the Second World War to create the park.  It was part of a scheme to create several green routes connecting areas of London to the River Thames. Extensive development did not begin until the late 20th Century. The Green Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over the Mile End Road, which bisects the Park, opened in July 1999. The award winning bridge was designed by Piers Gough.

Wildlife is everywhere in Mile End Park. Meadows and woodland in the park support a fantastic diversity of wildlife, including birds, butterflies and bees. Over 400 species of beetle have been recorded, including the very rare Streaked Bombardier.

Around 170 types of spiders have been recorded, including two species never before recorded in Britain. More information about nature conservation in our parks

The park is home to many exciting resources:

Nearby are Revolution Karting, an electric Go Kart track, and The Ragged School Museum.

Exhibitions at The Art Pavilion

Our stunning gallery space hosts a varied line-up of free exhibitions.  It is a great place to escape to for a bit of culture right on the doorstep! All exhibitions are free and open to all.

For details of all exhibitions please visit our arts and events pages or follow us on Instagram.

The Arts Park

Linked to the Ecology Park by a path and cycleway under a railway viaduct, the park includes an “art mound”. This has been used to showcase outdoor art. It gives an opportunity to get a great view of the rest of the park and Regent's Canal.

The Children's Park and Play Pavilion

From Monday 30 October playground opening hours are 10am - 5pm daily. A kiosk is open serving drinks and snacks. There are portalloo toilets in the playground. There are no baby change facilities available.

Stay and play sessions are held Monday to Friday (term time only).
